Jotunn Race
The Jotunn are a species of giants with Elemental capabilities as well as energy capabilities. Each Jotunn is different in size, shape, and appearance. The thing that defines a Jotunn is their unnatural appearance. They can either be stunningly beautiful or horribly grotesque. Their size can be tremendous (a prominent Jotunn being longer than the Earth) or just regular human sized. Jotunn are incredibly intelligent, physically powerful, and spiritually powerful. They were said to be able to destroy and topple mountains with their bare hands, flatten forests with a sneeze, and change the very shape of the land during brawls. The thing that separates a Jotunn from other species are their intelligence and pursuit of knowledge. They were often enslaved by the Æsir for their vast knowledge. Jotunn are separated by their elemental type, as well as species type. There are Spirit Jotunn and there are Chaos Jotunn. Originally, there were only 4 primary Jotunn Elements; Mud, Fire, Frost, and Wood. The Elements were expanded based on the abilities shown by all Jotunn and generalized into one.
Ymir, in Jotunn lore, was the first Jotunn to have ever appeared. He created the life this World has from himself as well as the Earth from his body. He is known as the King of the Frost Jotunn, thus making the Frost Jotunn the first Jotunn Race to have ever appeared. The Fire Jotunn then came to being, being led by the fierce and feared king, Surtr. Surtr is said to carry a sword that can scorch all the worlds in flames with a swing and it is proven when the first events of Ragnarok are showed. Surtr ended the mighty war with just a swing and killed every being in the war with a mere swing. This brands Ymir and Surtr as polar opposites and the Grandfathers of the Jotunn.
The Jotunn usually starts off with two Basic Elements, or Base Elements since you base the rest of your power from those two first Elements. As the Jotunn masters those first Elements, they gain greater affinity to it; being able to use it easier, gain resistance to its effects, etc. In turn, the Jotunn grows weak to the opposite of those two Elements. If they manage to master the opposite Elements, they gain a resistance to it also, but only slight. The first two Elements also defines their race and type of techniques they'd generally use. The Jotunn can learn all Elements if they master their first two, but their J.S will still remain powerful to those first two, and weak to the opposite of those two.

Spirit and Chaos Jotunn
The two titles for the species was created during the Jotunn Civil War. Angel had taken half the Jotunn, while Wraith took the other half. The Jotunn taken under each side were mainly correlated by their Elemental type. This gave the Jotunn Civil War many titles, but it is generally known as a Civil War.

The Jotunn Soul (J.S)
The Jotunn Soul is what defines a Jotunn and is given by a King Jotunn. The J.S cannot be removed by others, only by a King Jotunn due to the King having the energetic keys to do so and bloodline. The J.S is made of Pure Elemental Energy and holds an infinite amount of Elemental Energy. It feeds it to the Jotunn, by doing so, the J.S begins to merge with the Jotunn and slowly turning them into an Element themselves. By giving Elemental Energy required to create the Element, the Jotunn loses energy at a slow pace. In a sense, the J.S gives the Jotunn ingredients for the food and the Jotunn themselves just make the food, mixing ingredients how they want it to be like. This saves energy for the Jotunn and allows them to create devastating techniques from their Element even as babies. The J.S was created by Cloud.
The Jotunn Soul is not a soul. It is merely a little being that forms inside the Jotunn's core energy. It is guarded by its own eneries as well as the energies placed by the King Jotunn. Usually, the J.S is related to the King Jotunn and may even gain some sentience and abilities to the King Jotunn as it goes, unless you use the opposite Elements of the King Jotunn. The Jotunn Soul has two real names: Ymir or Surtr. The name Ymir, or Ymir's Soul (Y.S), is given when the Jotunn has either pure Spirit Elements or the Jotunn mainly uses Spirit Elements. The name Surtr, or Surtr's Soul (S.S), is given when the Jotunn has purely Chaos Elements or uses the Chaos Elements more. As the J.S slowly merges with the Jotunn, more and more of the Elemental Energy is given to the Jotunn until the Jotunn has infinite elemental energy to their respective Base Elements.
The Jotunn Soul is unique as it changes and evolves along with the Jotunn. It is sentient, changing with the experiences of the user. For example, if you use mainly destructive techniques with your Element, the J.S becomes mainly destructive type and allows you to use them easily. That is how it changes for you, the way it evolves is by the amount of Elemental Energy you use and the experiences you go through. For example, you started off with Wind and Fire as your Elements. Your J.S would mix and stir those as you use them, turning into something that mixes both Earth and Fire. Thus, you get Advanced Elements, like Scorch, Light, Magma, etc. Those Advanced Elements mix along and the J.S evolves into something completely new and unique, a Vanir type J.S.
The Jotunn Soul can perform its own techniques to benefit the Jotunn as it goes. It mainly tries to protect the Jotunn because if the Jotunn dies, then the J.S dies. If the J.S itself dies, then the Jotunn is not harmed unless they are halfway through merging with each other. As seen through later lessons, the Jotunn is able to manifest the power of the J.S and use it for their benefit. Thus increasing their power to greater heights.
